POI

the word poi means ball in Maori

The art form originated in Maori New Zealand in an attempt to keep
the wrists, arms and shoulders of warriors supple in times of peace, ensuring they remain fit for battle.

The Maori women then took on the art and turned it into a dance

Performers such as fireworx have adapted the ancient art of poi to produce a visually explosive performance
of agility and co-ordination using a combination of light and fire
that stimulates the senses

Fire poi are exiting, fun, and beautiful to watch, the element of
danger only increases the exhiliration
